Moloch - Daddy
It seems the steady stream of tunes isn't seeping out of Canada isn't stopping, though we're a long way from the lofi.hiphop with this one.
Moloch brings Sylvia Plath's verses back from the grave to a bass laden trap track that will burrow deep into your childhood memories.
Daddy, you can lie back now.
There’s a stake in your fat black heart
And then there's that Katy Perry sample at the end. If only the tune were 5 minutes longer...
With the 'Amphetamines For The Teenage Soul' mixtape, Moloch seems to traverse a few different genres. In most cases this seems to demonstrate a producer who lacks consistency. Though here it's more a showcase of experimentation rather than lacking a distinct sound.
Trap influences find themselves nestled within housey progression and the final track "Do As I Say And I Will Be Your Slave" takes you off in a different direction altogether. A hypnotic, tribal future soul track that you simply haven't heard anywhere else before.
