Making a mark in London is pretty tough going, especially when there are so many brands on the scene today. But whether it's to avoid getting glass between your toes, to kick a can down the road, or to prevent getting stuck with syringes in alleyways, people will always need to put things on their feet.
We live in shoes. Spend at least half of our lives in them, from the 5 a side pitch on Thursday nights, to the club on Friday and the bathroom on Saturday. They've become more than just a way of protecting your tootsies, and, with the quote often touted going, "the first thing women notice is what you're wearing on your feet", you best believe they're an important part of our lives.
So when we came across Modern English, we just had to find out more.
A little different from your average shoe company, whose emphasis is on low cost foreign labour and high margins, Modern English design and manufacture shoes with an emphasis on quality. Made in Britain, this is proper clobber.
So what's their story?
The intention of EVOLVING, rather than PRESERVING this 600 year old Northampton-based industry. The name, Modern English, is our manifesto; everything we make will be made in England, and will be modern in its thinking.
