follow More than just a clever pun, JimBag are a new look at gym bags. A fashionable alternative to your traditional holdall, their contemporary design is downbeat, casual and really quite cool. We spoke to company founder Anthony Bingham to find out more:
Manchester-born, Anthony began his career as a Rugby player, having moved from the rainy north-west to Australia to join a team down under. Struggling to make his place in the team due to fierce competition, he found himself working a side job to supplement his income.
The JimBag concept came about whilst Anthony was on his travels. Having a great deal of time to think, he was constantly mulling over new ideas and thinking about his next move.
This meant Anthony was bouncing back and forth between the office, the rugby pitch and the gym. Bounding around with his muddy boots, he realised he needed a bag that, “wasn’t a gym bag – [but] a multipurpose bag that would transition from the field to the office without being an eyesore.”
JimBag is not just any old gym bag. It’s a stylish and fashionable alternative to the more traditional sports bag – it’s a style statement with bags of attitude!
As the 21st Century throws more and more our way, the lines between work and play have never been more blurred. Whether it’s your crippling addiction to Candy Crush that you just can’t shake on the tube home after work, or sweeping between work, the gym and nights out, we all crave simple solutions to make our lives easier.
It then became Anthony’s mission to, “deliver versatile and fashionable fitness gear that will take you straight from the gym to the street and everywhere in between.”
Though their designs on taking over the men’s fashion world don’t end there;
Starting with your bag, we aim to accommodate whatever your daily to-do list calls for, yet still offer functional features that are suitable for any workout. You already manage to do it all, why shouldn’t your gym bag do the same?
Once back in England, Anthony decided to take his business idea to the next level and contacted a personal training client. Like most good ideas, it took only 4 bottles of wine and a steak dinner for them to come up with the name, and that was all they needed to get the ball rolling.
Though it would be cheaper to manufacture in the Far East, Anthony wanted to have complete control over the product from the design to the manufacture, leading to the establishment of a production line in Manchester.
Since then the embryonic JimBag has developed from a simple solution for Anthony and his colleagues to a women’s line, and a new range in clothing; featuring some casual hoodies and sports wear as well as wash bags.
With a range of 5 styles, various colour options and JimHoodies, who knows where the future will take them. Perhaps JimKit, JimTee, JimStudio, JimBuddy, JimGear, the opportunities are endless. Watch this space!
